How AI reads this page
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity don't look at colours, images or animations. They receive text, headings, links and structured data. Below is exactly what they read when they open “ChatGPT Ads: what changes in October 2026 and what to check before the 30th”.
The AI receives 2,121 words in 9 sections, 18 links and 3 blocks of structured data.

# ChatGPT Ads: what changes in October 2026 and what to check before the 30th > Visual ads, a new Conversions page, measurement partners and creative enhancements on by default from 30 October: the ChatGPT Ads updates and the checks to make now. URL: https://geosnap.ai/en/blog/chatgpt-ads-novita-ottobre-2026-cosa-controllare-prima-del-30 Language: English Version IT: https://geosnap.ai/blog/chatgpt-ads-novita-ottobre-2026-cosa-controllare-prima-del-30 Author: Rinald Sefa, CMO Geosnap · Category: GEO strategy Publisher: Geosnap (Maind Group S.r.l.), https://geosnap.ai ## In short In October 2026 OpenAI introduced a visual format for ChatGPT Ads (tested in the US), redesigned the Conversions page in Ads Manager, added weekly emails and new measurement partners. From 30 October, "creative enhancements" will be on by default: ChatGPT will be able to rewrite headlines, translate text, resize images and change the destination URL of your ads without approval. Decide before that date and check your pages, languages and conversions. - From 30 October 2026 creative enhancements are on by default for self-serve campaigns: rewritten headlines, translations, resized images and changed URLs, with no approval of each variation. You can turn them off in Ads Manager. - The visual format during image generation is being tested in the United States only, for Free and Go users; the tests on wider cards and larger images use the creative assets you have already uploaded. - Ads Manager has a new Conversions page with volumes, trends and diagnostic warnings, plus a weekly email for advertisers with active campaigns. - Measurement connects to Conversions API and partners such as AppsFlyer, Triple Whale, Adjust, Northbeam, Kochava and Airbridge; incrementality experiments are still at an early stage. - Ads do not influence ChatGPT's answers: organic visibility in AI answers remains separate work on content and sources. [Read the original](https://geosnap.ai/blog/chatgpt-ads-novita-ottobre-2026-cosa-controllare-prima-del-30) In three weeks OpenAI has changed quite a lot in ChatGPT Ads: a visual format being tested in the United States, a new Conversions page and weekly summaries in Ads Manager, more measurement partners and, from 30 October, "creative enhancements" switched on by default for every self-serve campaign. Here is what was announced, what already applies to advertisers outside the US and what is worth checking in your account before the end of the month. ## What did OpenAI announce for ChatGPT Ads in October 2026? Three updates on three different dates, each with a different weight for advertisers outside the United States. | Date | Update | Does it apply to you already? | | --- | --- | --- | | 5 October | Visual format during image generation; more measurement partners; brand-safety pilot | The format is a US-only test; the measurement part, yes | | 16 October | Redesigned Conversions page, weekly emails, tests of wider cards and larger images | Yes, if you have active campaigns | | 20 October | Creative enhancements on by default from 30 October for new and existing campaigns | Yes: decide by 30 October | [OpenAI's official post of 5 October](https://openai.com/index/new-chatgpt-ads-format-and-measurement/) introduces the visual format and the measurement ecosystem. [Search Engine Land](https://searchengineland.com/chatgpt-ads-introduces-new-measurement-tools-and-visual-ad-formats-496998) summarised the Ads Manager changes and the format tests on 16 October. The email about creative enhancements was published by [Search Engine Roundtable](https://www.seroundtable.com/openai-chatgpt-ads-enabling-creative-enhancements-42344.html) on 20 October. ## How do the new visual ads work and who sees them? They appear while the user asks ChatGPT to generate an image, and they show products or services with pictures rather than text alone. OpenAI says the format helps people imagine "how products and services could fit into their lives", through images of inspiration or use. The test starts [later in October in the United States with an initial group of advertisers](https://openai.com/index/new-chatgpt-ads-format-and-measurement/), only for users on the Free and Go plans; the ads are labelled and stay separate from the generated image. [TechCrunch](https://techcrunch.com/2026/10/05/openai-launches-visual-ads-that-appear-alongside-image-generation-results/) recalls that ads arrived in 2026 to support the free and low-cost tiers, and that ChatGPT reaches 1.2 billion people a week. In parallel OpenAI is testing [wider cards and larger images on desktop and full-width images on mobile](https://searchengineland.com/chatgpt-ads-introduces-new-measurement-tools-and-visual-ad-formats-496998). These tests use existing campaigns and creative assets: you do not need to do anything to take part, but the way your image is displayed may change. A multi-image format is planned, again first with selected US advertisers. No date has been given for other countries. For a brand outside the US the practical consequence is a single one: the images you upload today may be shown larger than you designed them. It is worth checking that they hold up at bigger sizes, without small text or details that get lost. ## What changes in conversion measurement? It becomes easier to connect ChatGPT Ads to the tools you already use. OpenAI has added integrations with Hightouch, Tealium and LiveRamp to send conversion data from your own systems, and supports [Conversions API, reporting and click attribution](https://openai.com/index/new-chatgpt-ads-format-and-measurement/) with partners such as AppsFlyer, Triple Whale, Adjust, Northbeam, Branch, Singular, Kochava, Airbridge and Tenjin. For full-funnel measurement there are Fospha, Measured and INCRMNTAL; for geo-based incrementality experiments, which OpenAI still describes as "in its early stages", Haus, Measured and WorkMagic. Inside Ads Manager, the [new Conversions page](https://searchengineland.com/chatgpt-ads-introduces-new-measurement-tools-and-visual-ad-formats-496998) brings together event volume, trends over time, the share of active campaigns optimising for conversions and diagnostic warnings linked to the Diagnostics tab. Advertisers with active campaigns also receive a weekly email with changes compared with the previous week, and bugs or suggestions can be reported from the account menu. OpenAI backs the announcement with three results reported by partners: for one advertiser the attributed cost per acquisition came in 15.3% below its paid-search benchmark, for another 67% of incremental purchases came from new customers, for a third 93% of visitors from the ads were new. These are single cases, chosen by the company selling the service: useful to understand what to measure, not to predict your own numbers. If you do not have a conversion event connected yet, that is the first thing to fix: without it, the weekly emails will only tell you impressions and clicks. ## What are the "creative enhancements" switched on from 30 October? They are variations of your ads that ChatGPT creates on its own, without you approving each one. The email sent to advertisers says that [from Friday 30 October 2026](https://www.seroundtable.com/openai-chatgpt-ads-enabling-creative-enhancements-42344.html) the feature will be enabled on new and existing self-serve campaigns. Starting from your ad and landing page, the system can: - write or update headlines and descriptions to connect them to the conversation or the user's interests; - translate the ad text into another language; - resize images to fit the ad format; - change the destination URL to a page on your site it considers more relevant. Variations may be prepared in advance or generated in real time during the conversation, and "can run automatically without requiring you to review or approve each version". You can opt out before 30 October or change the setting at any time in Ads Manager; existing account-level and campaign-level opt-outs are preserved, and campaign settings take priority over account defaults. The email makes no distinction by country: if you have a self-serve account, assume the rule applies to you. For many companies this is a gain: fewer versions to write and ads that follow the question more closely. For others it is a risk to manage. Automatic translation can take your ad into a language where you have no website or customer service; the URL change can send the user to a page you did not choose, say a blog article instead of the product page; rewritten headlines can carry promises or a tone your industry does not allow. Anyone working in a regulated field, such as insurance, health or finance, has one more reason to decide carefully. ## What to check in your account before 30 October Five checks, in the order it makes sense to do them. 1. **Creative enhancements setting.** Open the account and campaign settings in Ads Manager and decide: on, off, or on only for campaigns where a wrong tone costs little. After 30 October the default becomes "on". 2. **Landing pages.** If you leave the feature on, the system may pick another page of your site. Check that every reachable page is up to date, with correct prices and terms, and that old pages are removed or redirected. 3. **Languages.** If you sell in one country only, ask yourself what happens if the ad is translated for a user writing in another language who then lands on a page they cannot read. If you do not want that, turn the feature off. 4. **Conversion events.** Check in the Conversions page that events are arriving and that there are no diagnostic warnings. Without measured conversions you cannot tell whether the automatic variations help or hurt lead quality: among the first reactions collected by Search Engine Roundtable, one team paused its test precisely because of lead quality. 5. **Images.** Review your creative assets at larger sizes, because the tests on wide cards and large images use the ones you have already uploaded. If you run your campaigns with Geosnap Ads Manager, these checks come on top of the basic work: picking the questions where your brand is not cited today and using ads there, as explained in the article on [how to split the budget between ads and organic visibility](https://geosnap.ai/en/blog/chatgpt-ads-o-visibilita-organica-come-dividere-budget). ## What does not change: ads and answers stay separate None of these updates touches ChatGPT's answers. OpenAI repeats that ["advertising does not influence the answers ChatGPT provides"](https://openai.com/index/new-chatgpt-ads-format-and-measurement/), and that conversations stay private. On the brand-safety side, "Negative Phrases" are coming for qualifying advertisers, to exclude specific conversations, along with a pilot with DoubleVerify and Integral Ad Science to assess context suitability without accessing private conversations. For a brand, the usual rule therefore still holds: an ad puts you under the answer for Free and Go users, not inside the answer and not for paying subscribers. If ChatGPT describes your company badly or cites competitors instead of you, the fix goes through the content and sources the model reads, not through the ad budget. When analysing [AI answers](https://geosnap.ai/en/features), keep the two measures apart: how often you are cited in answers and how your ads perform. They grow along different paths. If you want to go over the basics of the format, there is the guide on [what ChatGPT ads are and how they work](https://geosnap.ai/en/blog/chatgpt-ads-cosa-sono-e-come-funzionano). ## Sources - [Building advertising for the way people use AI](https://openai.com/index/new-chatgpt-ads-format-and-measurement/) (OpenAI, 2026-10-05) - [ChatGPT Ads introduces new measurement tools and visual ad formats](https://searchengineland.com/chatgpt-ads-introduces-new-measurement-tools-and-visual-ad-formats-496998) (Search Engine Land, 2026-10-16) - [OpenAI Auto Enabling Creative Enhancements In ChatGPT Ads](https://www.seroundtable.com/openai-chatgpt-ads-enabling-creative-enhancements-42344.html) (Search Engine Roundtable, 2026-10-20) - [OpenAI launches visual ads that appear alongside image generation results](https://techcrunch.com/2026/10/05/openai-launches-visual-ads-that-appear-alongside-image-generation-results/) (TechCrunch, 2026-10-05) ## Frequently asked questions ### Are the new ChatGPT visual ads visible outside the United States? Not yet. The format that appears during image generation is being tested in the United States from late October 2026, with an initial group of advertisers and only for Free and Go users. The multi-image format will also start with selected US advertisers. OpenAI has given no dates for other countries. The tests on wider cards and larger images, on the other hand, use existing campaigns and are not tied to a country. ### If I do nothing by 30 October, what happens to my campaigns? Creative enhancements switch on by themselves for new and existing self-serve campaigns. ChatGPT will be able to rewrite headlines and descriptions, translate the text, resize images and change the destination URL, without asking you to approve each variation. You can opt out before that date or at any time afterwards, from the account or campaign settings in Ads Manager; existing opt-outs are preserved. ### Should I leave creative enhancements on? It depends on how much a mistake costs you. If you sell a simple product, have few pages and one market, automatic variations can save work and make the ad more relevant. If you work in a regulated field, sell in one language only or have pages whose terms change, it is safer to turn them off, at least until you see how they behave on a test campaign with measured conversions. ### How do I measure whether ChatGPT Ads brings results? Connect a conversion event, directly or through one of the supported partners, and check the Conversions page in Ads Manager, which shows volumes, trends and diagnostic warnings. The weekly email gives you the changes compared with the previous week. To know whether purchases would have happened anyway you need incrementality experiments, which OpenAI is still developing with a few partners. ### Do ads on ChatGPT change how the AI describes my brand? No. OpenAI states that advertising does not influence ChatGPT's answers, and ads appear separately from the answer, only for Free and Go users. To change how ChatGPT, Gemini or Google AI Mode describe your company you have to work on the content and sources the models read. Geosnap measures exactly that part: citations, description and sources used in the answers, kept separate from paid campaigns.
